ABOUT TENNIS PRO (The Band)

Described by novelist Dave Eggers as "melodic and anarchic", Tennis Pro is at times punk, at times surf, and always grounded in melody and electricity. Tennis Pro's most recent LP Shimokita is Dead? was produced by band member Phillip Peterson (Owl City, Portugal The Man, Gym Class Heroes, Mastodon, The Posies, Nada Surf).

ABOUT RUGGED UNCLE

Victoria, BC based rock and roll family. Rugged Uncle began as a side project for Immaculate Machine, The Paper Cranes, Clay George and more. The band, which was a diversion from the seriousness of music and the music business, played very simple songs only for the sake of a good time. A few years later, with core members now settled on Vancouver Island, Rugged Uncle has been resurrected, this time as a principal focus.

ABOUT BIG IN JAPAN (The Film)

Big in Japan • Canadian Premiere

Friday • Feb 6 • 9:45pm • Odeon 1
Sunday • Feb 8 • 2:00pm • Odeon 1
Director: John Jeffcoat • USA • 2014 • 100min

Semi-true, hugely entertaining, and totally rocking! Real life Seattle indie band Tennis Pro have given rock- and-roll all they could but fame has remained a cold lover. So, they've decided to take one last shot at glory through the most Cheap Trick-like of musical accomplishments: being big in Japan. Leaving wives, family and girlfriends behind, they're ready to try crossing political, cultural and personal boundaries one more time with huge style and a lot of fun.
