Joanne Hounsell
Soprano Joanne Hounsell and Pianist Robert Holliston present a Song Recital featuring the music of Henry Purcell, Franz Schubert, Richard Strauss, Claude Debussy, Fernando Obradors and Kurt Weill.
An accomplished concert artist, Ms. Hounsell has sung in solo recital at the National Arts Centre as part of CBC Radio's Debut series and most recently, in a program of twentieth century French repertoire at the National Art Gallery in Ottawa, produced and broadcast by CBC radio. One of Canada's most outstanding lyric sopranos, her vocal and dramatic talents have secured her prominent engagements on both the operatic and concert stages. In Canada, she has sung lead roles with Opera de Montr�al, the Canadian Opera Company, Stratford Festival, Calgary Opera, Edmonton Opera and Pacific Opera Victoria.
Victoria audiences have heard her as the Governess in The Turn of the Screw, Helena in A Midsummer Night's Dream, Valencienne in The Merry Widow, Despina in Cosi Fan Tutte and as a guest artist with the Victoria Symphony orchestra.
Ms. Hounsell has recently joined the voice faculty at the Victoria Conservatory of Music.
