The Lynchmen

circa 1964 - circa 1965
This picture was submitted by Jeff Murray.

Important to remind folks we had just lived through the golden age of Cowboy TV . The Rifleman, Sugarfoot, Rowdy Yates, Wagon Train, Have Gun Will Travel etc. To us, The Lynchmen were the good guys who hung rustlers, horse thieves and train robbers. We had no historical context whatsoever. We were young, DUMB and full of... fun! Hard to see this posted today of course, because, for sure, Black Lives Matter!

In the gallery (click on View Photos), the picture that was taken at the back of the Parliament Buildings is Gordon Gill on the right side of the photo, Geoff Murray is the one on his back and John Dunn is the guy above him with blonde hair and dark glasses. The dark haired kid, as we all were, was our tamborine/maracas player but I don't recall his name as he was a late arrival. I am the blonde haired dude on the left side of the photo and I played lead guitar. Our name was "The Lynchmen", not Lynchmen and we got together during the summer of 1964 and I left in March 1965 for training with the RCMP. I felt it might be a better job. I think the band broke up a month or two later.
