It's been almost a decade since Ice Cube dropped his last set of new material, the 2-volume War and Peace. Of course, as millions of moviegoers know, that's because Cube has been busy reinventing himself as one of the top box office draws in the world with comedies like Friday and Barbershop, and action films like XXX: State of the Union.
Rather than simply resting on his movie star laurels however the Cube is getting back in the game. Laugh Now Cry Later is his first record of new material in ages, and it's worth the wait. Nearly 20 years after transforming the hip-hop scene with N.W.A. and his first two solo albums, AmeriKKKa's Most Wanted and Death Certificate, Ice Cube has made his most accomplished and hard-hitting record to date, featuring collabs with some of today's rap heavies and singles like "Chrome & Paint" and "Why We Thugs". An accompanying tour promises to be one of the year's most sensational and thrilling.
