Event Description

Our Bluegrass Intensive includes: daily instrument class, interactive workshops, breakaway groups where all instruments will play together with instructors, camper open mics, exclusive performances by your world-class teachers, unlimited inspiration and a chance to rub shoulders with some of the very best bluegrassers out there! Camp is also where you’ll meet your new best buddies, regional jam circle and future bandmates!

Camper Instruction, workshops, concerts and meals will take place at the beautiful, lakefront ‘Old School Campus’, which includes Hotel Wolfe Island, The Blue Cottage and The Blue Moose B&B. Camp fee includes all meals prepared by Hotel Wolfe Island. Spaces are limited, so jump on it!

Camp will start at approximately 2:00 pm Friday, November 1st and finish at approximately 3:00pm Sunday, November 3rd.

Accommodations are at Hotel Wolfe Island, Blue Cottage and The Blue Moose B&B.

A Typical Day At Old School Bluegrass Camp:
9:00am | Breakfast
10-10:45am | Group Instrument Lessons
11-11:45am | Workshop with Instructors
12-1:00pm | Break Away Groups (1st Session)
1:30pm | Lunch
2:30-3:30pm | Group Instrument Lessons
4:00-4:30pm | Activity with Instructor A/B
4:45-5:15pm | Activity (switching instructors)
5:30-6:15pm | Break Away Groups (2nd session)
6:30pm | Dinner
7:00pm | Songwriting Game
8:00pm | Instructor Concert
9:30-10:30pm | Slow Jam or Not Slow Jam, classic country 2 and 3 chords

Old School Camps

Old School Camps is a family-owned business run out of the hamlet of Elphin, Ontario, in the Lanark Highlands. The owners are husband and wife, Joey Wright and Jenny Whiteley, both award-winning Canadian folk and roots musicians. Summer camp is held on their home property, while spring and autumn camps take place at their dear friend, H. Chris Brown’s Hotel Wolfe Island across from Kingston, Ontario.
