We are very much looking forward to this one. The Team Hegdal records have been on heavy rotation since they reached out to us to play in Victoria.
Allotropes is the trio of bass clarinettist/saxophonist Shane Krause, bassist Trav Short and drummer Miles Fuller. Their music is a mix of Krause’s compositions, free improvisations and classic tunes by free jazz legends including Ornette Coleman, Roswell Rudd and Don Cherry.
Shane Krause’s past bands have been featured at the Vancouver International Jazz festival and he was a performer in Anthony Braxton’s 2010 Sonic Genome Vancouver project. He has performed with well known improvisers including Mats Gustafsson and Tatsuya Nakatani.
Miles Fuller is a drummer, improviser and composer from Victoria BC, located on the unceded territory of the Lekwungen People. An adept performer, he appears regularly as both side-man and leader in venues across Canada. Miles’ playing is greatly informed by the jazz and improvised music tradition and has been praised for its emotive nature.Miles is currently working with a number of groups, including the Monik Nordine Trio, the David Santana Quintet, Actual Human People, and Scrap Arts Music.
Trav Short is a double bassist and orchestral string technician, who was a long-time member of the Wes Carroll trio and runs the Swing Low Strings repair shop. He’s kind of like the Hunchback of Notre Dame for Centennial United Church but taller and with better posture.
