Victoria Folk Music Society weekly gathering, Open Stage 7:30pm, Feature Performer Jake Galbraith at 9pm, 1110 Hillside Avenue, $8 cash, Everyone welcome!
Jake Galbraith has been a folkie singer and strummer since the late 1950s, and he has seen more than a few things along the way! A California native, he immigrated to Canada in 1970 to avoid the toxic politics and policies of the USA. His obsession with music has led to him being a multi-instrumentalist and to being conversant with several musical genres. He has been active in the Vancouver Island music scene since 1973 and performed widely across Canada and in the USA. He has also had an association with the VFMS since its inception, performing in dozens of our feature presentations over the years. Jake’s solo show tonight will feature songs that led to the establishment of the Victoria Folk Music Society back in 1975 and that still provide the foundation of the folk scene today, songs telling stories that have captured our hearts, imaginations, and intellects. Welcome back, Jake!
