Event Description
The Bergmann Piano Duo are joined by one of Canada’s foremost and celebrated clarinetists, James Campbell, for “Clarinet à la Carte”, a programme that features the clarinet in repertoire throughout the centuries . From Mozart to Saint-Saëns, to Poulenc and some Jazz, this programme will demonstrate how the clarinet has been a favourite and beloved instrument for so many composers.
As a much-lauded and sought after performer, Campbell has performed as soloist and chamber musician in over 35 countries with over 60 orchestras and more than 35 string quartets, collaborated with Glenn Gould and Aaron Copland, and has crafted over 45 recordings.
A Canadian Artist of the Year JUNO Award winner, Campbell has been recognized with several other prestigious awards including an induction into CBC’s Classical Music Hall of Fame and the Order of Canada.
A former Professor of Music at the famed Jacobs School of Music of Indiana University from 1988-2019, he has been Artistic Director of the Festival of the Sound since 1985 and, having now returned to Canada, continues to give concerts masterclasses throughout the world.
