An evening of celebration!
Laudate Singers celebrates the festive season with an evening of magnificent Baroque music. Artistic Director Lars Kaario has chosen sparkling Christmas jewels from Italian, English, Danish and German composers.
Claudio Monteverdi and Francesco Durante are our Italians and both offer a wondrous Magnificat. Henry Purcell, the beloved English composer, rejoices with "Behold, I Bring You Good Tidings". Franz Tunder, a German organist/composer who spent most of his career at Marienkirche in Lübeck cries out "Hosianna dem Sohne David" (Hosanna to the Son of God). And Dietrich Buxtehude, a Dane who became Tunder's even more influential successor at Marienkirche, tells of "Das Neugeborne Kindelein" (The Newborn Child).
The Singers will be joined by early music instrumentalists Nancy DiNovo & Rebecca Ruthven (violin), Sarah Kwok (viola), Konstantin Bozhinov (theorbo) and Darryl Nixon (organ).
