Violinist Ann Elliott-Goldschmid and guest pianist Stephen Runge present a recital of romances and sonatas that explore the close personal and artistic relationships between Robert Schumann, his wife Clara Schumann, and their protégé Johannes Brahms. They will also perform Duo Sonata by Canadian composer, Jean Coulthard, written 100 years after the Schumanns’ works, and similarly inspired by a partnership of love and music.
Violinist Ann Elliott-Goldschmid is a founding member of the renowned Lafayette String Quartet. Artists-in-residence at UVic, they’ve performed all over North America and Europe for over 30 years. A dedicated teacher as well as performer, Elliott’s students grace major orchestras, string quartets and graduate schools.
Praised for his sensitivity and versatility, pianist Stephen Runge (UVic BMus ’01) has been heard from Victoria to Halifax as a soloist and collaborative artist.
