Event Description
Written by Johann Sebastian Bach around 1727, this sacred oratorio for soloists, double choir and double orchestra is widely regarded as one of the greatest music works ever created. Bach’s setting of the Easter Story, adapted by Picander from the Gospel of St. Matthew the Evangelist, is filled with emotional arias, sacred chorales and dramatic double choruses, and shows the composer’s musical word-painting skills at their finest.
For this performance VPC welcomes soloists Ellen McAteer, Sarah Fryer, Josh Lovell, Benjamin Butterfield, Nathaniel Watson and Kyron Basu to perform with our choir and guest orchestra.
Dedications for a loved one may be up to 15 words, and must be submitted by Wednesday, April 10 to be included in the program for a tax-deductible donation of $50 or more to the Victoria Philharmonic Choir.
