Event Description
The British Columbia Choral Federation (BCCF) hosts an annual gathering of choralists from across the province working with inspired leaders of the choral world. This year, Victoria welcomes ‘United in Song – Celebrating Canada’s 150th’ with a stellar cast of conductors and over 300 singers performing in four different choirs.
BCCF Chorfest 2017 singers, under the direction of conductor Jon Washburn – artistic director of the Vancouver Chamber Choir, will perform Ralph Vaughan Williams’ beautiful Serenade to Music in the full choral/orchestral version, as well as works by Stephen Chatman and Ian McDougall.
Three other choirs will perform an eclectic and wide-ranging selection of choral works with accomplished conductors from across Canada: Scott Leithead of Kokopelli Choirs in Edmonton will lead the brand new Young Adult Chorfest Choir; Madeleine Humer of the Victoria Childrens’ Choir will lead the Chorfest Children’s Choir; and, Kathleen Allan hailing from Newfoundland and now part of Vancouver’s choral scene, will lead the auditioned BC Youth Choir. This afternoon’s performance is a once in a lifetime event for choralists and audience alike, as our very own Victoria Symphony joins these singers on stage.
This initiative is made possible by the Community Fund for Canada’s 150th, a collaboration between the Victoria Foundation, the Government of Canada, and extraordinary leaders from coast to coast to coast.
For physical events that happen at a specific time. For example a concert, or dance performance. If there are multiple shows, you can still duplicate your event to cover them all.
