Event Description
Everyone wants to go to Paris. Everyone thinks they are a poet at heart. Rosie Ming has never been to Paris but she knows she's a poet because she wrote a book of poems about never going to Paris. Not only that, her poems about never going to Paris have gotten her invited to Iran! Why would anybody do that? That is a very good question.
It turns out she may not know as much about her family as she thought. Living with her Chinese grandparents in Canada and working a dorky job through high school hasn't given her much to go on. Now, she's going half a world away in a burqa, connecting with people and places she never imagined before. She has one foot on the history of Persia and the other on the hidden history of her own life, but she’s armed with a guitar in her hand and a lyric in her heart. Good elements to start building a bridge toward healing and understanding.
Canadian animator and filmmaker extraodinaire Anne-Marie Flemming returns to VFF with her most visually entertaining film to date. Sandra Oh voices Rosie Ming with adorable joy and with great backup by Ellen Page and Don McKellar in supporting roles. Window Horses is a film that delightfully warms the eyes, the ears and the heart.
