SPIRITED JAZZ -2016/17 Season
Fall/Winter/Spring Unitarian Jazz Vespers
Morning Service of Jazz Vespers, October 9th, 10:30 AM
The congregation and visitors of the First Unitarian Church Victoria will be treated to a morning service of Jazz Vespers in the October Spirited jazz. The community and jazz lovers are extended an open welcome to this service.
Music is the focus of the Unitarian style of Vespers by Rev. Shana Lynngood and the church’s program of top jazz players by musician Gary Theal. Herself a jazz singer and history buff, Rev. Shana creates just a splash of spirituality for each vespers and some background to the music and composers. The musicians choose the music and theme. Lynngood very adeptly weaves inspirational words around the central theme, the lives and times of the musicians and composers. This style of jazz vespers allows time and space for music to speak to the soul.
