Event Description
The Arcs —which features Dan Auerbach, Leon Michels, Richard Swift,Homer Steinweiss and Nick Movshon—announced Coachella performances on Saturday, April 16 and Saturday, April 23.
In addition, Rolling Stone named The Arcs’ Yours, Dreamily, among the top ten albums of 2015 calling it a “turbulent R&B noir, spiked with psychedelic flourishes… Spectral hip-hop coated in crusty mellotron.” Read the full review here: http://rol.st/1QSlzhU
Yours, Dreamily, continues to receive critical praise, with NPR Music saying, “Right from the drop, Yours, Dreamily, ignites like a cigarette flicked on a stream of gasoline,” while Entertainment Weekly praises, “[The album] lands right in the meaty part of the psychedelic curve with jolts of lush hypno-soul and tough garage-edelia.” The album’s first single, “Outta My Mind,” also has received excellent reviews, with New York magazine’s Vulture praising its “raw, bare-bones appeal” and Spin noting its “barrage of deliciously reverbed, strung-out riffs.” Also, The Huffington Post recently premiered the track’s official music video, calling it, “a dreamy gift of garage blues wrapped in fuzzy, soulful guitar.” Watch the video here: https://youtu.be/k84Fpso2cBY.
Additionally, Record Store Day premiered The Arcs’ new track “Young,” which was co-written by David Berman of the Silver Jews. Auerbach says, “We’ve been meeting at night, writing together for a few years. This is the first time we’ve shared any of that. The Arcs have recorded more songs from the collaboration and we hope to release more of it very soon.” Take a look at the premiere here: http://bit.ly/1D1DUmu. The song appeared on the band’s limited-edition six-song recording, The Arcs vs. The Inventors Vol. I, featuring Dr. John and David Hidalgo. The 10” vinyl was released on Friday, November 27 via Nonesuch Records as part of Record Store Day’s Black Friday event. A digital version of The Arcs vs. The Inventors Vol. I is available for download.
The disc is the first in a series of collaborative “Inventors” recordings to be released by The Arcs. Of the project Auerbach states, “This release was a chance to work with some of our favorite musicians and musical inspirations, guys who invented a world where The Arcs can coexist. We hope to build on these traditions as a band and plan to make collaborations with other ‘inventors’ an ongoing project.”
