About North of Here:
After first piecing together an odd arsenal of instruments and modern-folk harmonies in 2012, the sounds of North of Here have grown into a rich and unique collection of voices and awfully catchy hooks. They continue to produce original music at an alarming rate in preparation for their busy year ahead.
If thereʼs one thing to be expected at a North of Here show, itʼs an engaged and involved crowd. If the foursome's on-stage group dynamics and the hit-or-miss wit of their banter doesnʼt get you, the high-energy performance will have you stomping, clapping or singing along (possibly all three) to one song or another. Collaborative writing amongst the group is a strong point, balancing a set that is as varied in style and tune as it is original.
Fox Glove:
Fox Glove is an amalgamation of three very different female voices which come together to create a fresh, sophisticated sound. Renn Madeleine Bibeau, Claire Butterfield, and Chelsea Kanstrup's haunting yet enchanting harmonies whisper everything from Tennessee to Tottenham to Tofino. With the help of a suitcase filled with instruments they've accumulated on their separate journeys through life, this trio brings you their own unique twist on songs that you may or may not already know.
Justine Vandergrift:
Justine Vandergrift’s clear, rich voice and finely-tuned song-craft bespeak an affinity with the likes of Patty Griffin, Bonnie Raitt, and Sarah Harmer, but her own brand of country soul has deeper roots than that, ones that dig into the hymns and folk songs of her youth. Her two studio releases reveal a rare and irresistible knack for melody, and her forthcoming EP Sailor (November 2015) represents a deepening of that artistry. Justine is like the old hymns she grew up with – even if you can’t quite put your finger on what makes them genuine and authentic, they are undeniably so.
