Event Description

Celebrating the great lineage of experimental piano works over the Western Front’s 40+ year history, 88 Tuned Bongos champions today’s most cutting-edge pianists and keyboard projects.

The Disklavier shows what it is made of beginning with Doug Blackley’s Spectral Piano Project. Together with Andrew Czink, Blackley presents compositions enveloping the scope of his spectral apparatus that enables pitch to bend, shimmer, pulse and simultaneously create multiple pitches/timbres. Pianist Vicky Chow performs new works by Adam Basanta and Remy Siu’s world premiere that explores the Disklavier as a cultural object: Foxconn Frequency no. 2 – for single visibly Chinese performer.
