This November marks the 25th Anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall and yet, our globe is still riddled with people that are negatively impacted by the walls and boarders that confine them. “Bridges over Walls” is a multi-disciplinary work by Vancouver-based cellist Clara Shandler. It combines the beauty of music, bonding imagery, and the harsh reality of words to take audience members on a journey to open their hearts to their global neighbours and see the world beyond their own. Encompassing musical influences from around the world and combining a vast array of texts (speeches by Aung San Suu Kyi, comedy by George Carlin, and quotes from Victor Hugo), there will surely be something for everyone, and almost certainly a laughs or two.
Opening night is Thursday November 6th with 8pm showings on November 6th, 7th, and 8th; there will be one matinee performance on Sunday, November 9th – the day the Berlin Wall fell.
All performances are held in the second-story studio space above Our Town Cafe at Main and Broadway (245 E Broadway). Join us after the show for a glass of wine or a gooey cinnamon bun downstairs.
Advanced tickets are available at www.sidewalkcellist.brownpapertickets.com for a slight discount, tickets at the door will be available for purchase by cash or credit card.
For physical events that happen at a specific time. For example a concert, or dance performance. If there are multiple shows, you can still duplicate your event to cover them all.
