By tooth and claw, Megan Lane emerges as one of Canadas best guitarists with her latest release Sounding the Animal. Produced by the deft hand of Hawksley Workman, Lanes cut-to-the-bone guitar solos and unbridled voice are set loose amidst the analog tones of classic rock and the punchy synthetic textures of today. Dealt with acuity at every level of its creation, Sounding the Animal includes two co-writes with Workman and one with Canadian underground indie music hero Rae Spoon, and was mixed by Matt Dematteo and mastered by SENSEI. The albums artwork was drawn by internationally exhibiting artist Zachari Logan and is reflective of the wild spaces and untamed personalities referred to in the record.
Sounding the Animal is preceded by three albums: Bow & Drill the Spark (2009), Wrapped in Plastic (2006), and Purple and Blue (2004), which was nominated for Outstanding Blues recording by the Western Canadian Music Awards. Winning awards and grants from FACTOR, the Saskatchewan Arts Board, CreativeSask, and Rawlco Radio, Lanes recordings have received national airplay on CBC Radio and Rawlco Radio.
