Event Description
AM & Shawn Lee bio:
AM & Shawn Lee bring us their second full length LP La Musique Numérique: a sun-filled, space funk masterwork blending early digital technology with decade blurring songwriting which takes listeners deeper into the sonic crates from which the music was born. However these out-sound influences aren't plugged into a computer program and spit out through modern day micro technology. The instruments are played, the vocals are sung and the songs are written, proving an even stronger connection to the past. Album lead off "Two Times" introduces a Sleng Teng Riddim influenced sex groove complete with unexpected synth jabs and smooth soulful vocals while a rendition of Joe Jackson's 1982 hit "Steppin' Out" sees the new wave classic taken deeper into the cosmos. La Musique Numerique's interstellar journey takes you in and out of faded memories of disco, funk, soul and reggae but never sets foot on any of these planets; never colonizes one style. It is, in effect, pure AM & Shawn Lee.

JESSE BRU bio:
Raised on 90's hip-hop, inspired by the likes of J Dilla and Pete Rock, Jesse Bru spent his formative years buying records, and writhing rhymes. His sound is derived from his roots, with an emphasis on classic jazz and funk. The voice of Gil Scott-Heron is often audible in Jesse's sample heavy, deep tracks, which cleverly layer classic clips with contemporary beats.
2012 was a banner year for Jesse Bru, with his debut album ‘MidCity’ on UK house label Audio Parallax followed by a release on French label Karat as 'Hot Keys' (a collaboration with Ryan Trann of Inkwell, Larry James, Secret Lover). Look out for his upcoming 2013 releases on labels Heart to Heart and We Have Friends.

Dale Evans bio:
Dale Evans grew up skateboarding in East Vancouver. He has been making electronic music since 2007. Everything that accompanies an upbringing entrenched in skate culture's creative climate has been coupled with life experiences, travel, and experimentation, elements that have influenced his breed of self-informed electronica as it has grown from sample based nu-disco fused dance grooves toward independent, forward thinking tripped-out beat-hop. With support from publications like Viva Radio, 01 Magazine, Color Mag, Stoney Roads, Close To Modern and LYFSTYL Music, shows at Fortune Sound Club (Vancouver) The Astoria (Vancouver), A Dental Lab (Vancouver) and Songkla (Calgary) accompanied by releases on Napalm Enema Records, Close To Modern and a Naked Friday's Mix for Viva Radio, the Dale Evans sound has been established and re-established on an endless continuum of musical exploration.
