Bios:

NILS (Beats Without Borders)
World Beat/Electronica

Probably a name who needs no introduction, Nils began actively DJ'ing in the early 90's and has been consistently gigging and promoting word-class events ever since.
In that time he has earned a reputation as an inspiring DJ who has a knack for reading the energy of a room and giving the Dance Floor just what it needs.
He has played at many Festivals including Diversity, Big Time Out, Entheos, Komasket, In Shala, Earth Dance, The Vancouver Folk Music Festival, and Shambhala for 6 years running.
He has played headlining sets in Vancouver and throughout B.C. and has opened for the likes of Cheb i Sabbah, Nickodemus, Adham Shaikh, Gaudi, Beats Antique, Ott, Talvin Singh, David Starfire, Bluetech, Heyoka, Femi Kuti, Delhi 2 Dublin, and Oka.
This diverse list should give you a sense of the range of styles Nils can represent. If there is a constant to his sets though, it is that all of them have at least some Global Beats represented.

WILLISIST and SHAHdjs
(Drum N Bass/House n Breaks)

The son of a disco dj and a folk music fanatic, willisist passion for music developed from two very different places. High school was all hip hop as the turntables came out of the basement. While others were obsessed with “keeping it real”, he kept it open, and dance floor friendly, hitting up a few raves and feeling the lasers. FFWD ten years to audio school in Vancouver, and another five partying in the house scene, then WHAM – IT’S DRUM AND BASS! Quick as a snare rush he assembled the SHAHdjs, promoting the full spectrum of DnB and embracing the full Bass Culture Community.

MICHAEL FRASER - Live
(Live Violin fused with gypsy, jazz and house beats)

Michael's solo DJ performances have the young and old, the sober and intoxicated, dancers and listeners alike grooving to his violin swagger. Shambhala Electronic Music Festival featured Michael at the Rock Pit and he's since opened for Talib Kweli, DJ Fashen, Bit Funk, Jeremy Sole and more. You can also spot Michael's cameo appearances on recordings with indie bands such as Hot Hot Heat, Belle Game and Swingamajig.

ESCUCHA - Live
(Classical String Trio)

Escucha Trio features Meghan Van Cleave on violin, Tony Kastelic on Viola, and Clara Shandler on Cello. All three musicians are recent graduates of the UBC School of Music: Tony and Clara are receiving their BMus degrees this May and Meghan is receiving her MMus. All three have outstanding musical backgrounds spanning across much of Canada and the US, and have experience playing in a variety of Vancouver's most notable venues such as the Chan Center, the Vogue, the Red Room, and the Pan Pacific. As a trio, they tackle music both within and beyond the boundaries of Western Art Music to include popular works by Michael Jackson, Van Morrison, and they have added variety by learning a selection of tangos by Latin composers.

ECHO PILOT- DJ Set
(Electronica/Dub)

Echopilot is producer/bassist Mike Paprocki who has been cooking up a special blend of dubby electronic for some time now and has seen releases Dubhead Records, Native State, and is currently on Mushroom Lounge Recordings. Never fitting into one genre, Echopilot is a mixture of modern dub, breakbeat, world fusion, dancehall and a touch of glitch. His last album "Ghost Lion Navigation" is available on iTunes, Beatport and other fine digital download sites. He will be presenting new original material from the new album due out in late spring.

FRANTIQ -BeLeaf/Audio Empire/Philthy City
(Tasty Grooves)

Since an early age Frantiq has been interested in all things music and audio related and has shared these passions ever since. The catalyst of these came when he discovered the world of DJ’ing through old school hip-hop DJ’s and turntablists. Soon after being introduced to the diverse world of electronic music the two became one and the same from then on. In his mixes he takes the skills and techniques of turntablism and applies them to a wide and eclectic range of musical styles. Expect to hear the unexpected as he shares everything good under the sun from hip/trip-hop, downtempo, funk & soul, breaks, world & fusion, house & breaks, glitch, and bass music all arranged and mixed from the ears of one music lover to another (you).
