In their final performance of the 2011-12 season, the Galiano Ensemble of Victoria is offering an evening of little-known Austrian and German serenades. The program includes Robert Volkmann’s Serenade no. 2 in F major, Op. 63, Julius Klengel’s Serenade for String Orchestra, Op. 24, and Robert Fuchs Serenade No. 3 in E minor, Op. 21.
All three of these individuals are not only highly regarded composers but they were also respected musicians and teachers. Over the years, however, their music was largely forgotten and today has almost totally disappeared from the concert stage. Conductor Yariv Aloni and the orchestra will breathe new life into these serenades at their season-ending concert and this will be a great opportunity to hear some wonderful classical pieces that you may never have heard before.
The concert will be performed Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at 8:00 pm in the Philip T. Young Recital Hall at the University of Victoria. Advance tickets are available at Ivy’s Books and Munro’s Books, or by calling 250-704-2580. Tickets may also be purchased at the door.
For physical events that happen at a specific time. For example a concert, or dance performance. If there are multiple shows, you can still duplicate your event to cover them all.
