Come on down as three bands from opposite sides of the Canadian music scene come together to share the Railway Club stage.
Burlington Ontario’s Sandman Viper Command and Vancouver’s very own Beekeeper and 41st and Home will showcase their raw blends of musical fashion.
Sandman Viper Command
In the beginning, the four best friends who make up the ambitiously named outfit from Burlington Ontario (Rob Janson, Aaron Harvey, Dan Reardon, Matt Meyer) locked themselves up for days in their parents’ basements practicing and refining demos, only emerging when they had stumbled upon the most perfect blend of garage pop/guitar fuzz rock this side of the border has heard in a long time. It’s this obsessive compulsiveness in their music that pays off huge on their independently released debut. Everybody See This is ripe and bubbling with the type of youthful rage you can’t fake. It’s delicate and fragile in all the right places and thoroughly captivating from start to finish. Like any good band, a great album is followed up by a great live show. Young as they may be, put these four handsome musicians on stage and you have a band with a cohesive attitude. Their tight performance chops earned them opening spots for the likes of Holy Fuck, The Arkells, The Rural Alberta Advantage, and more.

41st and Home
For Vancouver musicians 41st and Home, inspiration comes from everyday relationships, long drives and hours spent writing together in a small, carless garage somewhere on 41st avenue. Their debut album “Left In Places” is an 8 track CD compilation of their past and present, taking cues from contemporary DIY folk and indie rock. The songs are layered with rich instrumentation and narrative lyrics influenced by the landscape and everyone in it. Drummer Garth Covernton, singer-songwriter Thom Kolb and bassist and audio engineer George Kniff are joined by a cast of exceptional musicians such as violinist Sejal Lal, trumpeter Andrew Lee, and keyboard player Patrick Fiore who provide the songs with intricate and lush arrangements. The group has shared the stage with acts such as Said the Whale, Aidan Knight, In Medias Res and We Are the City and has been featured in publications such as BeatRoute, Discorder, VancouverIsAwesome, Exclaim! and Youthink. You never know what you might come across at one of the bands shows. The stage is lined with bell kits, various percussion instruments and oddities such as the 1953 pump organ heard on tracks such as “Sleeper.”

beekeeper
beekeeper is an indie post-pop band from Vancouver, BC, Canada. Their music blends together infectious hooks, stunning male/female harmonies, and unsettling math-rock dissonance. With electric guitar, drumkit, keyboard, voiceboxes, violin, saxophone, and massive hearts, Beekeeper fuses the more experimental elements of the Southern Ontario independent scene with an earnestness that is uniquely West coast. beekeeper is built around a three-piece core that consists of comedian Devon Lougheed, protein synthesist Luke Cyca, and gin aficionado, Terri Upton. Collectively the members have shared the stage with acts as diverse as Carolyn Mark, La Roux, Woodhands, Dragonette, Cuff the Duke, and Keys N Krates. Their debut LP is called BE KEPT and tells the dramatic story of the life (and eventual death) of a lovelorn small-town ex-pat hellbent on slaying the dragon. Their live show is quirky, unpredictable, and musically satisfying. It is not rare for their sets to end with the entire audience dancing on stage.
