In addition to being the world premiere of Sex With Strangers new album The Modern Seduction, Friday July 18th also represents the first production from ....Vancouver....'s Boutique Empire. All three acts are the first to join the roster of this artist driven collective.
Sex With Strangers, ....Vancouver....'s premier purveyors of "robot-rock", is proud to announce the completion of their first full-length release, The Modern Seduction, in this Boutique Empire showcase. The album is a master work and has been compared to an electro amalgamation of "The Wall" and "Rage in ....Eden....." A massive step forward from 2007's "A Future Tragedy", it expands upon the initial EP's concept of a dystopian future where the free thinkers and liberty seeking people are forced to take their live-forever lifestyle underground, away from the totalitarian regime that persuades the surface world. Expect a theatrical show with several guest stars appearing to complete the story.
Guilty About Girls is the latest group featuring Jordy Birch, former lead singer of Pure. Guilty About Girls is an eccentric pop group: a hybrid of The Velvet Underground and New Order. With his ever present flair for revealing the subtle absurdities of waking life, Jordy offers his insights in 2 and a half minute lessons. Joining him in Guilty About Girls is DJ Lukas T Poth on drums and Mark Henning on bass.
Combine the Victorious is an urban-hippy, indie dance-rock group fronted by fashion designer Isabelle Dunlop and record producer/former keyboardist of Pure, Mark R. Henning. In his year end wrap up, Tom Harrison of The Province noted CtV as ....Vancouver....'s Best Local Band. Joining the two onstage shall be Todd Simko (former guitarist from Pure) and Kevin Jones (The February March) on drums. They shall be playing songs from their forthcoming EP Disagreements.
