Event Description

. Thursday, February 7th I.M.U. presents FORD PIER w/ The COPILOTS & GHOSTHOUSE CD Release @ The Media Club, 695 Cambie. Doors 8pm / $10 - Purchase advance tickets online @ http://www.imuproductions.com

FORD PIER - Known internationally for his many years' work collaborating in the studio and on tour with such diverse acts as D.O.A., Jr. Gone Wild, Neko Case, Tankhog, John (Spirit Of The West) Mann, and others, Ford remains in the regular touring lineups of Veda Hille, Martin (Rheostatics) Tielli, and Carolyn Mark, while continuing to write and record with NoMeansNo-affiliated supergroup, The Showbusiness Giants. In Ford's most recent release, Organ Farming, he evokes orchestral textures while restricting the music to the sonances available to a straightforward rock band format. Live, "Rampaging rocker Ford Pier" has shown himself to be an engaging performer equally at home with the acoustic folk set or sharing a club stage with a hardcore band. His diverse influences span Wagner to punk rock and his "vocals soar into pitch-perfect falsettos and then cartwheel through anthems and allegories." http://www.myspace.com/fordpier

The COPILOTS - With members hailing from Fond Of Tigers, Veda Hille, DarkBlueWorld, Inhabitants, Josh Martine, Karen Foster & Carol Pope, this independent rock band has a pedigree that many bands would envy. With roots in rock, pop, folk, punk and classic rock, their songs feature adventurous, captivating melodies and dream-like lyrical images. http://www.myspace.com/copilotsmusic

GHOSTHOUSE combines melodic rock, new wave and jazz into an innovative, angular and asymmetric piano-based sound that sounds like no other act in Vancouver right now. Headed by musician/producer Jesse Gander (exBlack Rice & Operation Makeout), Ghost House features former members of Operation Makeout and The WPP. http://www.ghosthousemusic.com
