Born in the Czech Republic, and making a name for himself in Montreal, Tomas Jirku now hangs his toque here in Vancouver. This young artist has quickly worked his way into the international electronic music scene, thanks in part to his exposure at Montreal's Mutek Electronic Music Festival in 2000. His unrelenting, unpredictable explorations of minimal techno have caught the ear of many, including the interest of Germany's high-profile Force Inc. label. Beyond Force Inc., Jirku has released material from numerous other labels, including Europe's Klang Elektronik, and Traum Schallplatten, plus such esteemed Canadian labels as Altern8 and No Type where you can find his most recent album, �Bleak 1999'. Influenced by Industrial, and early British electronica, Tomas' low-end, heavy style reflects the current sound of German electro and has seen him become one of Canada's most popular techno ambassadors.
