Event Description

on sale 3/16 @ 10am

Leave it to the cheeky blokes in Arctic Monkeys to call their latest single “Brianstorm” rather than, say, “Brainstorm”. But then, the English quartet has never done things the normal way. One of the first bands to gain popularity through the Internet, the Arctic Monkeys had already built up a strong momentum by the time the band issued its first singles in late 2005/early 2006. Both “I Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor” and “When the Sun Goes Down” went straight to #1 in the UK singles chart. The group’s heavily-hyped full-length Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not became the fastest-selling debut album in British music history, received critical acclaim, and won the band numerous awards, including (but not limited to): the 2006 Mercury Prize; Best New Artist in the U.S. PLUG Independent Music Awards; Album of the Year awards in Japan and Ireland; and Best British Band and Best British Album at the 2007 Brit Awards. A contemporary rock ‘n’ roll guitar act a la the Libertines, the Futureheads and Franz Ferdinand, the Monkeys have proven themselves as a winning live band with sold-out club dates and festival appearances across the U.K., marked by singalongs and fan participation, as well as a critically acclaimed 2006 North American tour. A new album, Favourite Worst Nightmare, is scheduled for an April release.
