Event Description

EVENT

In the true spirit of Christmas, singing groups of all types will present two traditional carols, or a Victorian vignette including one carol at one of three separate concerts.
A panel of experts will choose up to three choirs or ensembles from each concert, which then are invited to take part in the -
CAROLFEST INVITATIONAL GALA

Costume Help Available: To add to the ambience, participants and audience members are encouraged to wear Victorian-style clothing. Help is available in the form of workshops and resource sheets.

CONCERTS I, II, and III
Location: Victoria Conference Centre Theatre
Dates: Dec. 3, Dec. 5 and Dec. 9
Time: 7:00 - 9:30 pm.
Tickets: $8 - $6

CAROLFEST INVITATIONAL GALA
Location: University Centre Auditorium
Dates: Dec. 20
Time: 7:00 - 10:00 pm.
Tickets: $15 - $13

EVENT INFORMATION
Concerts I, II, and III

CONCERT I - Special guests will present German traditions in honour of Prince Albert, Victoria's consort.

CONCERT II - Special guests will present Scottish traditions in recognition of Queen Victoria's fondness for Scotland.

CONCERT III - Special guests will present English traditions, including the ancient tradition of mumming.

CAROLFEST INVITATIONAL GALA
This performance will feature a special program of highlights from the first three concerts, and each participating group will receive a cheque for its chosen charity. "The Queen" (Carolyn Sadowska as Elizabeth II) will present her greetings in person, violin duo Nicky and Timmy Chooi will perform by popular demand, and Louise Rose will lead us all in a glorious experience of group caroling.

Participants will range from established choirs of all ages to ad hoc groups of co-workers. Additional choirs from BC and Washington will be invited to attend. All programs will include an emphasis on Victorian customs and costumes, special musical guests, audience caroling, and the waxen presence of Queen Victoria.
