"Tributaries"

I am a photographer based in the Cowichan Valley on Vancouver Island. I prefer to shoot film and use analogue cameras, and take a “no rules” approach to capturing life and landscape on the far West Coast of Canada. I find film to be the best way to achieve and convey these results I desire, preferring its distinct look, feel, and behavior than that of other media, lending itself to a mysteriousness in ways that I find difficult to explain. Through my work, I attempt to convey a sense of how the natural lighting, atmospheric/climatic conditions, and topography of a place interact and shape one another, and how these awe-inspiring natural forces in turn influence the impact we have on the environment, and the unique culture of the Pacific Northwest.
