Directed by Paolo Bortolussi, the Nu:BC Collective is the UBC School of Music's newest ensemble-in-residence, bringing together the spectacular talents of School of Music faculty and those of Vancouver's outstanding creative artists. Now in its second season, Nu:BC’s concerts feature repertoire from exciting and influential contemporary composers from Canada and abroad. Incorporating technology and interdisciplinary collaborations has been a focus of the Collective, resulting in works joining new music with contemporary dance, interactive video and computer, as well as theatrical elements. Nu:BC is deeply committed to promoting exceptional works by talented composers from BC and across Canada, and seeks to showcase local composers and performers on a national and international platform. In addition to its own series, The Nu:BC Collective is excited to be ensemble-in-residence with the 2008 Sonic Boom Festival, and will be giving a public reading session of works in February, as well as highlighting the festival concert series with a performance on April 12th.
