The Mountain Jubilee FOLKFEST is an old fashioned, fun, Community event... it's an open Convention... it's a Competition... it's a Showcase of local 'Folk' talent and the entertainers will compete for the most votes in a contest controlled by audience ballot voting!

It is a pleasure to be able to extend an invitation to local entertainers, friends, family, neighbours & supporters to gather at Victoria's first annual Mountain Jubilee FOLKFEST in Centennial Square... CONVENTIONAL RULES:

1. Each band [group or single act] will have 15 minutes of stage time in a 20 minute time slot.

2. Up to 24 competing acts will be eligible to enter the contest.

4. Bands can only use the sound system provided. Only acoustic instrument are allowed [unplugged]. Only three condenser microphones will be provided [vocals & instruments]. One optional microphone for acoustic bass will be provided.

3. The audience will vote for talent of their choice with balloting tokens. These voting tokens will be sold for $1 a piece. The four highest token counts will be declared 'overall winners'.

5. Distribution of money will be as follows: The 1st place contestant [the highest token count] will receive 'par value' cash for their tokens. All other contestants/acts will receive par value cash for their token count less a 20% contribution to Quality Time Promotions Inc for organizational expenses. Prize money will be issued to all contestants in exchange for tokens won. Profit from the 20% contribution to QTP Inc will be donated to the OBUC Public Capital Campaign.

6. The audience & competition participants will be able to cast votes all day long. All ballot boxes will be officially tallied just prior to the last set of the FOLKFEST. The four highest token counts will determine the 2007 winners and only these counts will be announced on stage and posted on this web-site.

7. The large central balloting table is available to contestants to sell CD's and distribute flyers/business cards etc. Contestants should supply a large personalized 'ballot bucket' for token collecting.

8. There's no entry fee for contestants and admission is FREE for the audience!

YOUR VOTE COUNTS!

Everyone will be eligible to cast voting tokens, and everyone attending will be encouraged to exercise their 'right to vote'. This unique community-oriented, non-profit [cost-recovery] event is designed to promote local talent! The voting process will best be served if the motivation comes from the desire to help promote local talent...

The event will also help raise awareness around the 13 year struggle to save Oak Bay United Church [built 1914]. The local historically signifcant church was condemmend and shut down in 1994 but the plan now is to save it as a multi-use structure for all to enjoy! All profits earned at this event will be donated to the Oak Bay United Public Capital Campaign.
