Ed Thigpen Scantet
Jazz legends are in short supply these days, so there'll be lots of interest in this stellar drummer known as "Mr. Taste." Most famous for his work with Oscar Peterson - their 1960s combo of piano-bass-drums is still considered the best-such trio in jazz history, Ed Thigpen also worked extensively with Ella Fitzgerald, Dinah Washington and Johnny Hodges and has appeared on over 1,000 recordings. After moving to Scandinavia in the '70s, he has cultivated many European and American musical relationships. Thigpen's deftly imaginative drumming and his trademark delicate brushwork can currently be heard in his new quintet. Scantet, a showcase of Scandinavia's finest jazz artists, includes Jens Winther trumpet, Tomas Franck tenor sax, Kasper Villaume piano, Jesper Bodilsen bass.
"Ed Thigpen is among the last of the great drummer/percussionists still performing today." - Timeless Jazz
