AKEEL

Formed in 2019, Vancouver's AKEEL has a wealth of musical experience that few bands are fortunate enough to find. All four members sing, lending to their distinctive full sound and diversity of genre from R&B, funk & soul to jazz and rock. Their sound is somewhere between No Doubt and Anderson Paak; with some rock top notes, a dash of funk/hip-hop and some major vocal harmonizing vibes.
Three of the members (Nikko/Tom/Jacob) have been playing, writing and recording music together for over a decade. There's a level of communication that is developed between musicians who have worked together that long. Their style of improvisation meets deliberate, careful writing and is infectious for the other members who have welcomed it with open arms. Although this style of writing takes more time, the rewards are certainly reflected in AKEEL's music.
