Andrew Rathbun Quartet with George Garzone
Andrew Rathbun Trio & George Garzone
Toronto-born, New York-based saxophonist/composer Andrew Rathbun is at the forefront of a new generation of jazz innovators. His improvisations are at once melodic, gritty, and technically stirring, and his compositions are lyrical, harmonically complex, and formally ambitious. On Rathbun’s recent recording Shadow Forms, his trio is joined by tenor saxophonist George Garzone. A founding member of the legendary Boston-based jazz group the Fringe, the ferociously talented Garzone has performed with jazz greats such as Michael Brecker, Joe Lovano, Dave Liebman, George Russell, Danilo Perez, Gunther Schuller, and Jack DeJohnette. A killer band with Scott Lee bass and Jeff Hirschfield drums. Thanks to the Canada Council for the Arts.
