Jane Michiel

Born in Vancouver B.C., Jane moved to the island at a young age, and now lives and works in the heart of Fernwood, Victoria B.C. Art has been a part of Jane’s life for as long as she remembers. Art specialty courses at high school, many painting and drawing classes at Camosun College, UVic, Emily Carr House, Victoria College of Art and many private painting lessons. After thirty or so years, Jane feels she is mostly self taught, in a never ending, ever changing word of art. Jane’s work has been shown at many galleries in Victoria, and several private shows.

Artists statement: I am influenced by everyday life, the seasons, music and the ever changing play of light. To me, beauty is all around us, from the wide open landscapes to the smallest pixel of light. My joy in painting comes from putting on canvas, what I see in my minds eye. I get immense pleasure from creating what I see and feel, and am delighted when others enjoy my work. My hope is to create work that will evoke enjoyment and a sense of beauty.
