Ursula Rettich
My art is abstract because feelings, dreams, and illusions do not have forms or boundaries. There is nothing more exciting than an empty canvas and tubes full of paint.
I like to give colours a certain independence and liberty in my work;
I see a picture, say – a landscape – I see shapes, I see colours, I feel the emotion and in my mind I vision a form and ideas - all based on the one picture I have in front of me. What I then commit onto canvas is an effort of both - the external picture and my internal response through colour and shape but also to think new, not been done before and push my art in new directions.
