About

Llorca

Llorca is considered as the "soulman " of F Communications and does a&r for the successful Brique Rouge Label, which he co-owns with David Duriez. He is one of the classiest artists on the roster. Llorca composes extremely groovy pieces of old school electronic music, which are strongly influenced by funk and jazz.
Ludovic Llorca was born in 1974 and became passionate about music at an early age, thanks to his mother. She bought popular disco hits by the likes of Donna Summer and Diana Ross, and so he became immersed in this type of music. His love for this was also fueled by the fact his mother would often take him to discos.

However his introduction to electronic music as we know it know came a little later, when he borrowed an Inner City record from his mother. The music had a profound effect on Llorca, and he never gave the vinyl back! His father was one of the first generation of computer programme analysts, and he gave Llorca his first job of composing at the age of 11! He started composing sound tracks to games for the Commodore 64 along with the other computer artists who his father worked with, this understandably had a major influence on him. He often participated in competitions for " Computer game " demos. Llorca cites his heroes as those who pioneered music for video arcade games.

Therefore Llorca was greatly influenced by the methodology of computer programmers. He took this on board when he started producing, and changed his equipment regularly. The knowledge he had gained helped him to a large extent; this culminated in the early 90's, when due to the technical advances in equipment, his home studio rivaled the sound made by the vastly more expensive studios of large record companies. Like a master craftsman in his workshop, Llorca did everything alone on his PC, spending many hours putting the finishing touches to his compositions.

In 1992, Llorca had the good fortune to meet David Duriez. It was with David he would later form the successful production partnership "Les Maons de la Musique " and the groundbreaking label " Brique Rouge ". Around the same time he also started his career as a DJ.
Llorca has produced a few long-playing singles for a Lille based label under various pseudonyms.... In 1997 he sent a demo to the very successful Parisian based F Com, Eric Morand was very impressed, and Llorca was signed up almost immediately.

Llorca has still kept up his DJing and has played at numerous festivals such as Montreux in 98 and Transmusicales in 99 and The Festival du Devenir in 97, 98 & 99, as well as countless clubs. He has played all across the world, and his DJing has taken him to many diverse places including Berlin and Japan (The Blue Note Club in Tokyo!). Llorca is known for his precise mixing, and also his funky yet incredibly soulful selection of the choicest cuts.
