Delius/de Joode/van der Schyff

At the helm of this Vancouver/Amsterdam trio is the Dutch saxophonist Tobias Delius, a ferociously gifted player who sounds like Ben Webster and Archie Shepp rolled into one. A regular member of Available Jelly and Joost Buis and the Astronotes, Delius has collaborated with a who’s who of international improvisers. Amsterdam’s Wilbert de Joode is a regular visitor to our Festival (Ab Baars, Bik Bent Braam, Eric Boeren) and is a versatile and marvelously creative bassist. One of the leading figures on the Vancouver new music/improv scene, Dylan van der Schyff has lent his talents to countless performance situations, playing with such luminaries as Dave Douglas, George Lewis, Louis Sclavis, Evan Parker, and more. The trio has recorded a CD called The Flying Deer (Spool).
