Anne Schaefer Trio
since circa 2003
With a pure voice and sophisticated songwriting skills, awardwinning jazz vocalist Anne Schaefer has emerged as one of this area ’s most compelling musicians. A classically trained composer and multi-instrumentalist (on guitar and violin), Schaefer got the jazz bug after studying in her teens under Sheila Jordan. Now 32, Schaefer has recently released her debut CD Twelve Easy Pieces, which reflects both her diverse musical interests and a rich life that has seen her live in places as culturally distinct as Montreal and Argentina. With her confident, genre-blurring artistry that embraces jazz, folk and roots, Schaefer is a uniquely satisfying performer. Her trio consists of Scott White bass and Kelby MacNayr drums.
“This is a brilliant debut CD, and it will be a treat to hear the songs live. ” – Joseph Blake, Times-Colonist
