Coordinator of Wind Faculty and Flute Teacher Training Progam. B.Mus., M.Mus. in flute performance and music education, University of Michigan; Ph.D. in musicology; recent research into the French Flute School makes her one of the world experts in this subject. An active teacher and performer, Ms. Byrne brings a unique blend of pedagogical training, performance experience and scholarship to her music teaching. Ms. Byrne has performed as a soloist and chamber musician throughout North America and Europe. In Victoria, she has performed with numerous groups including the Victoria Symphony. Ms. Byrne has taught on the faculties of the University of Victoria (Continuing Studies), Malaspina College in Nanaimo, and Washtenaw Community College in Ann Arbor, Michigan. She gladly works with youth and seniors, beginners and young professionals.
