The Ladysmith Archives provides free, public access to thousands of documents related to the history of the Ladysmith area. Our holdings include newspapers, photographs, maps, letters, ledgers and many other types of records. We also manage, for the Town of Ladysmith, Ray Knight's extensive collection of archival materials. All of these records are securely stored, processed and made available to the public in order to enrich our understanding of the past.

We have a spacious and comfortable reading room, complete with a microfilm reader/printer, to make your research experience pleasurable. Our knowledgeable volunteers will help focus your research and retrieve materials for you. If you want to do research or perhaps volunteer to help us process our collection, please call us at 250.245.0100 to make an appointment.

Research Services

We provide free public access at the Archives. We cannot conduct extensive, broad-based research for off-site patrons but are able to do small, focused research. If you are unable to visit in person, send detailed information via email, letter or fax about your topic, using our Research Request Form.
