My work is an exploration as well as a reaction to the world around me. I am inspired by the environment, but most recently by the documentary “Life in Colour” narrated by Sir David Attenborough, which emphasizes the importance that colour plays in the natural world. Drawing and painting was how I coped growing up, but art was a constant during frequent moves to and around BC. After having had the privilege of living in a remote Native Community on the West Coast of BC. the Indigenous way of seeing became important in my work. I see connections and transformations in all living things on the planet and in the universe and I attempt to represent them in surreal and abstract ways.
