Event Description
The Museum of Anthropology (MOA) at UBC presents a special evening of Slovenian music, folkloric dance, and festivities on Thursday, October 19 from 7pm-9pm to commemorate the arrival of an original, handmade Kurent costume from Slovenia. The Kurent, adorned in a massive sheepskin costume and cow bells, is a powerful spirit figure who comes to chase away winter during the rites of spring and fertility. The Vancouver Slovenian Society, together with Ansamble Smeh, will perform live music and dance. A cash bar will be available.
