The Ladysmith Public Arts Strategy was created after the Arts Council of Ladysmith and District was given $20,000 by the town to help develop a broad-based public art strategy which could possibly guide future decisions related to installations and donated works.

The region's artists are represented by 5 sub-regional arts councils with support from the CVRD Arts and Culture Division
